Urgent Care Nurse - New Plymouth
Our client has a position available for a Registered Nurse to work in an urgent care clinic / GP clinic for 30 plus hours a week.

Key to this role is an ability to be highly motivated to deliver a first class nursing service, ensuring the smooth running of clinic operations. This is a fast paced, busy role. The ability to multi-task is crucial, as is the ability to maintain professionalism and confidentiality.

You will get to utilise your nursing knowledge and experience, assessment skills and professional judgement to provide care, case management, advice, information, education and advocacy to your clients. This is a varied role; your clinical skills will constantly be developing and your knowledge base will forever be expanding.

You will achieve a sense of personal fulfilment through seeing people growing with your help and support within their own comfort zone. You will learn about different cultures and will often quite literally make someone's day!

What will your day look like?

Your day will include spending time with your patients, providing specialist nursing consultation and support services including wound care and medication management. You will undertake care planning, phone calls and write referrals.

You will also partake in activities that indirectly influence care outcomes, for example attending professional development opportunities. Whilst it is a truly satisfying position, it is demanding and will require you to maintain focus and balance multiple priorities whilst working under pressure.

What will you need?
  • A commitment to patient oriented planning and provision of services.
  • A strong understanding of and commitment to clinical professional development.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Strong relationship management capabilities at all levels.
  • To be flexible, calm, forward thinking, process orientated, mature and sensible.
  • A high level of cultural sensitivity with experience in relating to people from different cultural / ethnic backgrounds.
  • Strong computer skills.
  • Preferably with IV cannulation, IV additives, a smear taker and immunisation certification.
  • A current annual practicing certificate.
  • A great sense of humour.
  • To be eligible to live and work in New Zealand,

You will receive thorough induction and orientation and supported ongoing professional development.

The applicant should be flexible, able to work rostered shifts, including weekends, public holidays and be available for school holidays. Knowledge of MedTech-32 would be an advantage though training will be given.
